Bowel Cancer Awareness

Irwin Packaging are proud supporters of Bowel Cancer Australia which since its launch in 2000 has become a leading national charity in bowel cancer and digestive health education and research. It aims to decrease the impact of bowel cancer and gastrointestinal diseases in our society through awareness, education, support and research. Bowel cancer affects men and women equally, of any age with 73 people dying every week from the disease. 1 in 12 of us will receive a bowel cancer diagnosis during our lifetime.

Bowel Cancer Australia operates a number of national initiatives including Bowel Cancer Awareness Week TM, Red Apple Day, the It’s Crunch Time TM and ‘Love My Family’ campaigns and our Health in the Workplace Program.

Bowel Cancer Australia supports the Australian Government’s National Bowel Cancer Screening Program and encourages participation by all Australians in appropriate screening for bowel cancer.

Southern Cross Packaging Design Awards

Irwin Packaging has been supporting the Southern Cross Design Awards for the last 20 years. John Irwin has provided his expertise and support to any applicant who wishes to obtain any detailed manufacturing information.

The Southern Cross Design Awards are a national packaging competition aimed at tertiary students studying design at Universities, TAFE’s and Private Colleges. Students are provided with briefs, developed by the sponsors, and are required to produce innovative solutions to packaging design.

To encourage innovation in steel packaging the Can Makers Institute of Australia (CMIA), of which IP are members, works closely with the Packaging Covenant of Australia and each year sponsors an award for design students for innovation in steel packaging. The award goes to the student who develops a packaging solution that meets local legislative requirements and provides improved functionality and presentation.
